DIY: Envelope Pocket

Hello there,

You can find now on the Dear Lizzy blog two different DIY ideas to create with her newest collection (DIY CACTUS PIÑATA and DIY: ENVELOPE POCKET).

It is not a secret that I LOVE to make mini albums of my little adventures around the world, or even about the little things in life. But, lately, I realized that not only I enjoy to look back at the photos, or to rediscover the story through the album, but also to bring back all the memories with gathered memorabilia along the way.
DIYenvelope1
The bright transparency from the new Happy Place line, gave me the idea to make a little cute envelope out of it. This is perfect to keep some tickets, business cards or even extra photos from my last summer vacation. It was super easy to make and I love the fun look of it. Let’s take a look on the steps to make this:
DIYenvelope2
1. Pick the width of the envelope and trim the paper down. I find that 4×6 or 4×5 it is a good size for most minis and it is normally big enough to fit the usual memorabilia. So, I cut the 12×12 transparency into a 12×4 stripe. You can use an envelope template to serve you as a guide as well.

2. Fold the paper to create the pocket of the length you desire, and stitch the sides. Remember to leave a couple of inches on top in order to create a folded lid.

3. Now you have the basic structure completed. The tricky part is to choose how you want to close the envelope. In my case, I punched a couple of tiny holes to add two eyelets (one on the lid and one on the pocket) with a one-inch circle paper around. Then, I used a gold string that came with the Dear Lizzy tassels to tie the envelope shut.DIYenvelope7
4. As I final touch, I attached a couple of fun tassels from the Happy Place collection.
And done! Now go and grab some memorabilia and add this to your planner, a layout, a mini album, or even to your project life album (you can always punch two holes on a side or at the bottom to add it to a ring album). Let’s bring those memories alive!

XOXO Mini Album for the Studio Calico Blog

Hello there!
I am beyond excited to tell you that today you can find me at the Studio Calico blog. Yaaaay! Can you believe this? I still not, so pinch me please ;)
I share there a very special mini album/gift I made using my stash of Studio Calico kits. February is always my favorite month of the year. I am finally starting to say goodbye to the Christmas and Winter holidays whilst I am finally ready for the spring to come. Plus, the 27th is my birthday. Yaaay! I also love February because my boyfriend’s birthday is this month too, and we love to celebrate Valentine’s day as well by doing something fun together.
So this year, I decided to make a mini album about February and us to give to my boyfriend as a Valentine’s day/Birthday present. I was determined to use my stash from previous Studio Calico kits, you know, all those cool bits and pieces, cards and papers that you either hoard or haven't really decided where exactly to use. I also ended up using one of the boxes from the Project Life® kits to use as packaging.

And there is no Valentine’s without some treats, is there? ;) So, I included a little bag of sweets and chocolates and a bunch of confetti for a party theme, right next to the mini album.

For the cover of the mini, I re-used the packaging of the Far Far Away hearts included in the Project Life® main kit. I painted it white and I backed it with some plain vellum. To complete it, I added a (hoarded) heart from the Sugar Rush kit (last February) and some gold alphas (from the High Wire add-on of this February release).
Here you can see some of my favorite pages from the mini album.

As I said before, I mix and matched different embellishments, papers and cards from a lot of previous kits. I really had tons of fun putting this mini together and I was so proud of myself for mixing kits and not just staying with the latest one.

The kits are super versatile, and at the same time they work very well together. Double the fun!

I also found out that sometimes those little things that you had leftover can go very well from previous kits and you can even build your own kit with what you have left.

There isn't much technique involved here, but to make it more interesting, I mixed lots of different elements like transparencies, rub-ons, stamping, die cutting, embossing or simple layering.

I also mix and matched different photos from previous Februaries.

To finish off the album, I punched holes in each page and secured them together with a ring.

You can see as well some of my favorite pages and read a little bit more about this mini album here at the Studio Calico blog. It would be awesome if you could visit the post and share some love with me!

¡Hola a todas!

Be my Valentine!!

(texto en español al final de la entrada)

Oh Happy Love Day!!!

I know I know... Valentine's Day was the last Friday but as I din't have the chance to celebrate it on that day I didn't have the rush neither to prepare everything for the 14th. But finally  I completed it and I'm so happy with the little package I created and all I want to do now is give it to my boy. In fact. I hope he is not reading this because I have to wait a few more days to celebrate this special day hehe So, what's inside the bag?

All these goodies!! I got inspired by the Lindsay Letters "I'll eat you up I love you so"card. I chose a lot gold embellishments, red, white and pink... and lots of sweets of course!  I also had fun adding confetti because it is a day to celebrate, right?  A handmade envelope and card, some cute "Wild Thing, You make my heart sing" tags attached to a Pascal figure from the movie Tangled (Disney), heart shaped sweets, chocolates and a couple of cupcakes. As I said before I love pom-poms so I attached a couple of them to a pair of spoons. How cute are those? To decorate the outside of the bag I mainly used Studio Calico and Dear Lizzy products. Cute pie!

Now, I leave you with more in detail photos! I hope you had fun on the 14th with the people you love the most!

A limitless love story

Hello,

Today I wanted to share with you a different project that I made a couple of weeks ago. Well different but at the same time the same, because I made it with the same aim: document our happy moments together. Some of you may have already seen it on Instagram as I couldn't wait to share it. I was so pleased with the result!

I made a digital photo book with Artifact Uprising. I looked around at a few different options and I fell in love with Artifact Uprising when I saw Stephanie Brian's book, for a Week in the Life project (find it here). I chose the 5x5 inch softcover book and I went with a very simple approach. I tried to make it as a kind of story-book so I sorted my photos chronologically and on each page, and I wrote what the story was about on that page.

I also love the fact that you can place the photos on each page in many different ways. This way the page doesn't become plain or crammed with photos. I also found the size of the book very convenient as a gift. I actually made it for my boyfriend to keep it always with him, due to the fact that he travels a lot. I know that sometimes it is complicated to take on scrapbooking memories on a trip as they may fall apart...

Next, are a few detailed photos of some of the pages

Just a tip if you ever decide to make one of these... Keep it simple!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!
xoxo
